2012 Convention Documents and Photos
Mar 18, 2012 - CJAA's 2012 Convention is now history. Attendees enjoyed two plus days of Luke AFB hospitality, graciousness and resources. Base tours, sights, aircraft and educational opportunities hosted by Maj. Matt "Nails" Acer were enjoyed by all. And that was just Day 1. Members who, for one reason or another, were unable to attend can review some of the presentations here. Luke, regrettably, couldn't provide their presentations for distribution.

CJAA Members elect 2012/13 Board
Mar 17, 2012 - Wrapping up the 2012 CJAA convention, the membership elected their 2012/13 board of directors. Replacing the retiring Jack Hunter and Mark Peterson are the former alternates, Rich Hess and Joe Scheil, and joining the board as alternates are Richard Cooper and Pierre Wildman. Richard flies a MiG-17 and and a Viper L-29 in Canada, and Pierre flies his Vampire on the West Coast.
Afterwards the board retired to another meeting to select officers for the coming year. The structure is as follows:
Convention Activities
Mar 16, 2012 - CJAA Convention attendees received a warm welcome to Luke AFB by the Daedalians who invited us to their monthly dinner. Cadets were honored, instructors and students related stories, but the night's big event was Skip Hofler, who was an "exchange student" at RAF Brawdy flying Hawker Hunters.
Convention Agenda Online
Mar 13, 2012 - The 2012 Convention Agenda has been published and is available online. This year's convention takes place at Luke AFB outside Phoenix. Luke AFB has the largest number of Fighting Falcon F-16s anywhere in the world and 2012 Convention Attendees will spend a full day immersed in F-16 operation and maintenance.
Other activities include regulatory and safety updates, exciting guest speakers, and we're hearing there might even be a CRUD table on base.
Zach McNeill - New PPE
Mar 13, 2012 - The latest poll results suggest over 100 CJAA pilots are going to need a 61.58 Proficiency Ride prior to the new 61.58 implementation date of Nov 1, 2012. Aware that there aren't very many Experimental Authorization Examiners (EAE), the FAA has created a new position, Pilot Proficiency Examiner (PPE), and today designated CJAA's Zach McNeill as the first PPE. Congratulations, Zach!
2012 Convention - Base Housing
Feb 29, 2012 - Only two weeks until the start of the world's largest convention of civilian-owned, military jets in the world, and CJAA is going all out to make this the best convention in years. Best of all, it's not too late to sign up.
2012 Membership Drive Ending
Feb 29, 2012 - Just a gentle membership reminder - CJAA memberships are calendar (Jan-Dec) memberships, but the by-laws provide for a grace period up to the start of the Annual Convention, which this year starts Mar 15. We still have a fair amount of hold-outs out there - Please renew now and help us minimize follow-up costs.
Initial 2012 Classic Jet Journal Mailed
Feb 28, 2012 - If you live within the confines of the "Lower 48" and are a CJAA member, you should have received your first Classic Jet Journal of 2012. If you're beyond the confines of the lower 48, and are a CJAA member, be patient, your copy is enroute. Featuring a little humor, a little history, a couple in-depth aircraft analyzes, some first person pilot reports and much more make this second issue in three months is a very good read.
Bringing your jet to Luke AFB?
Feb 23, 2012 - Luke AFB will be celebrating a Military Appreciation day on Mar 17 and has invited CJAA members with Classic Jets to bring them in as part of a static display. Bringing a civilian jet onto a military base entails certain procedures - Airshow pilots are already familiar but for non-airshow pilots - Each aircraft operator will have to complete and submit a DD2400, a DD2401 and a DD2402 form no later than Mar 1. That's only a week from now.

Jet Noise and the Modernization Act
Feb 23, 2012 - A question appeared in our forum the other day asking about the FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012 and Section 506 titled "Prohibition on Operating Certain Aircraft Weighing 75,000 Pounds or Less not Complying with Stage 3 Noise Levels." The poster asked if our jets would be rendered expensive lawn decoration by 2016.
