CJAA Formation Group

Safe Formation Flight is a Discipline and an Attitude

"The Formation And Safety Team (F.A.S.T) National Standard Program was a product of perceived need within the warbird community to standardize and increase the safety of formation flying."

FAST Reference Documents:

Overview

The CJAA Formation Group are CJAA member formation pilots who have adopted the FAST Standards & Principles and have been affiliated with the original FAST program for several years. The CJAA Formation Group now has it's own formation guide available to it's members, including formation proficiency reports FPR (required by participating formation pilots yearly) and other documents such as the current FAST Standards and Principles Ver.18.

Formation pilots or those who would like to become formation rated can contact us direct to obtain specific training materials such as the Wingman or Leader Practical Test Guide.

Also for those who have trained and have been recommended by a CJAA Flight Lead or Checkpilot to advance to the wingman or lead status we have included among this website a list of the current CJAA Formation Group checkpilots to call if you need a checkride.

Flying formation safely requires training. Please don't attempt formation flight without training, it could kill you or someone on the ground.

Pilots and many of them our members, have trained extensively to be recognized as skilled, disciplined and devoted formation pilots. Show respect for the program and all of the formation rated pilots within by following the recommended FAST principles and guidelines in your training program.

We here at CJAA are here to serve our members, so please contact us with any questions or requests.

Recognizing the desire of our members to interact with one another on a regular basis, CJAA will also sponsor or participate in periodic meetings, fly-ins and air shows, where members can socialize with one another and with the general public in order to project a positive image of our organization and our members to these communities.
