Another 61.58 single-pilot turbojet reminder
Sep 7, 2012 - An email notice from FAA Safety Team was received this morning reminding all of the upcoming 61.58 proficiency check requirement. Essentially, beginning October 31, 2012, a proficiency check will be required annually for a PIC of any turbojet certified for single pilot operation. The rule, which was changed last year, gave pilots of these aircraft 1 year to obtain the necessary check before it becomes mandatory on 10/31/2012. While the requirement shouldn't come as a surprise to CJAA members, this email triggered other thoughts:
First, that any pilot within several hundred miles of Gadsden on Oct 3-5 should take advantage of their Gadsden Fly-In. Several Examiners and PPEs will be present to conduct 61.58 proficiency rides as needed. Check with International Jets if you have any questions.
Second, even if you already receive regular FAA Safety emails, you might want to check your subscription preferences to verify that you selected "FAR Part 91/135 Turbojet Operators" in your preferences.
October 31 is coming up fast!
